Hi,
We had our first event yesterday using Maprun, it was a great success but I can't understand one bit of the results. https://results.maprun.net/#/event_results?eventName=120m%20Run%20Like%20a%20Haggis%20Navigation%20Event%20-%20SJC If you look carefully you will see that some runners such as Martin Mavin has 26 controls and 260 points, but they visited one of the controls twice. There was a similar thing with Matt Poxon (28 unique controls + 2 duplicates) who had 600 points, but I noticed that and put it through HITMO, (Results Individual/Select for action/name/csv/select Action/Edit/Admin Hitmo/Save and Return to Editing In doing this one of his double counted controls was subtracted and his score reduced to 580, but not the other one. He should have 560. Is it an error in how I have set up the event, or something else? I'm using ScoreV, 120 minute. So it's 20 points per control and 10 points penalty per minute late. Many thanks for any advice. Andy |

Andy,
Sorry about the delay in doing the analysis of this. Thanks for reporting this... It's always good to check any anomalies. Short Answer: We believe the ScoreV logic is working correctly in the MapRun App, but the Admin tools available in the MapRun Admin Console, which allow administrators to directly edit punches and scores, has the power to create inconsistent results. Long Answer: We ran the GPX track for Martin Mavin through a simulated re-run of the event using the dummy name "Fred Nurk" (you will see the result in the results and can delete it). The original run scores as 25 controls with a score of 480 points (ie 24 scoring punches, and correctly not counting 39 twice). But Martin went close to 66 and it was not registered. So he could legitimately claim 25 scoring punches for 500 points. Based on the logs on the server, an Admin edited Martin's result several times, presumably with the intention of adding the punch to control 66. Old result files are saved on the server when an update is made. There are old results for Mavin at: 2024-09-28T13-32-37.128891Z 2024-09-28T13-36-29.029477Z 2024-09-28T14-00-56.002526Z These are the files that are retrieved if the Admin uses the "Undo Previous Changes" button. We can send you these files if you'd like to track back through the history. In the process of making these changes, either the system malfunctioned or the operator edited the result to arrive at the one that is currently published. The editing of results is a complex transaction in the system, as there are many scenarios to deal with, and we can't say 100% that there aren't some obscure bugs. We take comfort in offering the Admin the ability to manually add/remove controls and manually edit the score (and penalty), so the Admin ultimately should be able to "patch-up" any scenario. If you would like to delve further into this, or would like the files mentioned above, please email: support@maprun.net Peter |
Thanks Peter - that's pretty embarrassing on my part - sorry. Thank you so much for looking into it. I hope that as I get to grips with things fully there will be less issues!

Andy,
Not at all. It's good for me to investigate to be sure things are working OK. Dealing with results can be messy. Let me know if you see any other things that don't look right. Peter |
