For organised/published events, the normal practice is that the organisers provide printed maps.

Whilst running with just the map on the phone is possible, almost universally, runners prefer to carry a paper map. The map on the phone serves the purpose of:
- it lets you see your track on the orienteering map at the end of the event,
- in cases where "show location" is turned on, it shows your location on the orienteering map, and
- it shows controls on the orienteering map which normally change colour to green when punched.

Maps are typically the property of clubs, although the use of auto-create maps from www.oomap.co.uk is increasing.

Accordingly, MapRun does not assume that printed maps can be made freely available, and relies on the organisers to make arrangements to provide paper copies or access to a PDF file for runners to print themselves.

In the future, we may provide a means for organisers to upload (into the MapRunF App) a PDF for printing in cases where they want to allow this.

If you have set the course yourself in CheckSites you would normally have the course to print yourself.

If you have set the course in QuickStart, you would need to export the course and make arrangements to print it. Although it is acknowledged this is not straight-forward, it may be over-kill for a QuickStart event anyway.
