Using NFC Tags on controls

GHudson
The documentation available covers QR Codes and NFC Tags together - with most of the discussion covering QR codes. There is mention of a prefix required on the NFC tag but I'm unsure of the prefix or part thereof to us.

Is there someone that has done this that might be able to provide some guidance here. I'm keen to try this as we have a considerable stock of NFC tags/equipment here and It seems a shame to throw it away.

The NFC code will be identical to the QR code url in format so the default is
http://www.maprunners.com.au?c=xx with xx being the control code.  If you wish to use your club url then just substitute it in but remember that this non default url needs to be set in the event options when setting things up in the console.

I did set up some flags with both QR codes and NFC chips to try them on a course.  I'll admit that I found them a bit finicky to get them to scan (although I was using very cheap tags) and think I would likely stick with the camera scan rather than the NFC.

If you have already worked with NFC then this is likely not new but a good phone software for writing the tags is NFC21.  It works well and allows you to keep the tags unlocked if you want (for testing) or lock them.  Another down side with the NFC is you need to do each tag one by one while QR codes can easily be generated in bulk (self plug - my maprun tools at https://maprun.raz-family.ca/ includes a QR code generator and I have an exe version that will do much more complex things like the one in the photo).
