Maximum Event Duration

I've recently used MapRun very successfully for two hour score events and was wondering whether anyone has experience of using the app for longer periods.

Has anyone tried courses of three hours duration, or longer?

I realise that the state of a competitor's phone battery will be a critical factor here, but I'm interested in hearing whether anyone has has put on longer events and how they went.

Any thoughts about the safe upper limit for using MapRun for an event - assuming people turn up with an average phone fully charged?
